description: This dataset comprises polygons of areas with potential for liquefaction in San Diego County.Within the County, there may be a potential for liquefaction in areas with loose sandy soils combined with a shallow groundwater table, which typically are located in alluvial river valleys/basins and floodplains. This dataset combines the following: existing liquefaction areas from local maps, National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) which rates soils from hard to soft, and known hydric soils from the USDA Soil Survey to identify the potential areas where liquefaction may occur.
