Layers: Description: The goal of the San Diego Regional Interactive Bike Map is to provide active transportation commuters with information to help plan their commute. It also provides active transportation planners and modelers with an accurate inventory of existing and future bikeways and their proximity to transit. While SANDAG plays an important role in the planning and construction of active transportation projects throughout the San Diego region, we also rely on the expertise of our jurisdictions to provide feedback and insight into bikeway projects that occur at the local level, and we are continually updating our data to reflect this feedback.Use the Layers List to add or remove elements on the map. Layers include:Bike ParkingCompleted BikewaysPlanned BikewaysFreeway Shoulder Bike AccessTransit RoutesSteep RoutesThe legend identifies the different bikeway classes featured in the map. These classes are:Multi-use Path: a bikeway that is physically separated from vehicle traffic to accommodate bike, pedestrian, and other non-motorized traffic.Bike Lane: a roadway lane defined by pavement markings that provide a restricted right-of-way for bicycle travel.Bike Route: a route located on a shared roadway that accommodates vehicles and bicycles in the same travel lane.Separated Bikeway: a bikeway for the exclusive use of bicycles that requires a vertical separation between the bikeway and vehicle lanes.Bike Boulevard: a local road or residential street that has been enhanced with traffic calming and other treatments to facilitate safe and convenient bicycle travel.
